I’ve just had a few new condom creations or rather the patent applications hit my inbox and I thought they were so hilarious I just had to share them with you instantly. Here’s a short overview over 8 forms that inventors want you to wear.

Which one is it going to be?

A banana, rocket, submarine or a microphone condom?

Or rather a zeppelin, full beer glass, dolphin or cucumber condom?

I tend to the full beer glass condom just because it makes no sense at all. To see more details for these creations stay tuned as I’ll cover them in more detail later on.

Though probably the most important question remains: will they ever hit your local store? Patents usually are a few years ahead, so only time will tell.

Other older hilarious and more or less serious patents can be viewed in 60+ Incredible Patents You Don’t Want to Miss.

At times you’ve got to ask yourself: where am I supposed to hide that condom thing (of course you might choose not to hide but to show them off in a big plastic condom bag also)? And often you might get tempted to just put it somewhere in your wallet.

The only problem is that your wallet is not made for this – it will crush your life insurance in no time. That’s what Christopher Leo thought, so he quickly designed a condom friendly wallet, where the condom is the star and may be hidden behind your credit cards.

So next time you try to hide a rubber in your wallet, remember there’s someone out there owning this technology since January 2009. I imagine this technology helps in two ways – a bigger wallet makes you look more desirable (ok hopefully not) and the protection is there at your service, too.

Unfortunately there’s not much information on how this should work, but the pictures will at least give you a slight idea. And just in case it ever hits a store, we’ll let the world know.

Front Elevational View

Top Plan and Bottom Plan View

In case you didn’t know, there’s pretty much ANYTHING you can imagine in the condom patent world!

Although or because we’re in tough times when it comes to obtaining credits or the economy in general, the condom industry does particularly well and sells more of their products than in times of a booming economy. Consequently it would be a wise idea to invest into birth control/sex technologies right now.

Just a few days ago we got an interesting comment on condomunity.com from a user (called Conxband) who’s looking for investments for the patent 6,453,903 B1 – Condom with Constrictive Band about Opening. Because the comment was a bit off-topic i decided to give it a whole post.

That’s the comment by Conxband:

View the United States Patent for the Condom that is the first significant change in condoms in 75 years. It has both medical implications along with performance implications. Patent 6,453,903 B1 I am looking for either an angel investor or a leaseing /sale equation.

Condom with Constrictive Band about Opening

Here’s what the patent’s about:

A condom is described having a broad constrictive band adjacent the proximal end in order to maintain the blood supply in the erect penis and thereby maintain and prolong the erection. The proximal constrictive band is molded integral with the latex condom material or formed as a separate band ol a rubber material. The separate band may be adhesively attached or solvent welded to the latex condom. Alternatively, the band may be used separate from the condom.

Patent number: 6453903

Filing date: Jul 13, 2001

Issue date: Sep 24, 2002

Inventors: Kirtis Thomas, III

So anyone who does not know what to do with his money, this might be an idea. For everyone else there’s lots of silly, hilarious and genious patents to be discovered.

Last week we’ve exclusively reported about the spray-on condom. The interview had me wondering what else might be out there worth having a look at. The result is 60 innovative patents you shouldn’t miss.

If you missed the spray-on condom discussion you can have a look at these previous articles:

Spray-On Condom Not Coming (Anytime Soon) is our exclusive interview with the inventor of the spray-on condom Jan Vinzenz Krause

Discvover the Future: CSI New York and Spray-on Condoms explains the functionality of the spray-on condom

Let us just quickly recall the term patent:

“A patent is a document which describes an invention which can be manufactured, used, and sold with the authorization of the owner of the patent. An invention is a solution to a specific technical problem. (…) The protection given by a patent is limited in time (generally 15 to 20 years from filing or grant). It is also limited territorially to the country or countries concerned.”

Condom Shapes

This is one of the first special shapes that you’ll find in a patent search. Filed in 1979. We’ve all seen that before.

3. Reddy Condoms (1992)
In 1992 condoms begin to change and experiment with shapes. Reddy and Medtech Products are one of those constant inventors and innovators.

8. Condom (2004)

11. Prophylactic Device (2003)
So this would be the “Gentleman’s Jerkin” or the “Hazmat Suit” (hazardous materials). More condom names can be read here.

12. Novelty Condom (Tuna Fish?)

14. Condom (2007)
This is a concept from 2007. It looks strange, but it’s pointing to a new direction of minimalistic condom design.

15. Condom with ehmm – two pouches (November 2007)

17. Condom
The two pouches from 2007 were not good enough. Now in April 2008 we just add another two pouches to the concept and we have a new patent.

The backround of this invention is the following: “A wallet is the typical article used to carry and conceal a condom package. A significant problem with carrying a condom package in a wallet is that the outline of the condom package is often visible to others (…) another problem with using a wallet is that the condom package is often difficult to access when one is in the throws of passion”. “Finding and fumbling in one’s wallet for a condom package can destroy the mood of lovemaking”.
